Week Two: 9/10/18 – 9/14/18

Science 

How Can I Make New Stuff from Old Stuff? Slides

MONDAY: Team building challenges. Specific challenges T.B.A.

HOMEWORK: Nothing. 

TUESDAY: Introduce the Science News website and complete Science News Assignment #1 on the google classroom.

HOMEWORK: Complete the Science News Assignment #1 on the google classroom if you did not finish during class.

WEDNESDAY/THURSDAY: Conduct Activity 1.1: Can I Make New Stuff From Old Stuff? (pp.1-2 of the Science book). Add questions to the Driving Question Board. Begin Activity 1.2: How is This Stuff the Same and Different? (p.3).

HOMEWORK: Nothing.

FRIDAY: Conclude Activity 1.2: How is This Stuff the Same and Different? (p.3). Read 1.1: What is Important About the Stuff I Use? (pp.5-7) Conduct a post reading discussion. 

HOMEWORK: Finish reading 1.1: What is Important About the Stuff I Use? and answer the questions/prompts in the book from pages 5-7


Social Studies

MONDAY: Assign Geography Alive (GA) textbooks and Student Interactive Notebooks (ISNs). Introduction to the Five Themes of Geography. Play Geography Challenge Kahoot.

HOMEWORK: Nothing.

TUESDAY: Conduct and debrief the Preview Activity – Digging for Gold! Complete the Preview 1 section of the ISN (ISN pp.2-3). Read section 1 of Chapter 1 (GA pp.11-13).

HOMEWORK: Complete Geoterms 1 (ISN p.3)

WEDNESDAY/THURSDAY: Check in and review Geoterms 1 (ISN p.3). Read and discuss sections 2 and 3 of Chapter 1 (GA pp.14-17). Work on ISN pages 4 and 5 with a partner.

HOMEWORK: Complete pages 4 and 5 of the ISN if you did not finish during class. Question cards will be available in the SS Assignments tab of the blog.

FRIDAY: Check in ISN pages 4 and 5. Read and discuss sections 4 and 5 of Chapter 1 (GA pp.18-19). Work on ISN pages 6 and 7 with a partner.

HOMEWORK: Complete pages 4-6 of the ISN if you did not finish during class. Question cards will be available in the SS Assignments tab of the blog.
