MONDAY: Introduce Activity 6.1 – What Happens to Properties When I Combine Substances? Conduct Activity 6.1 (pp.45-46). Test the products from our reaction and compare them to the properties of the substances we mixed. Discuss what we observed in our investigation. 

HOMEWORK: Nothing.

TUESDAY: Wrap up for Lesson 6 with discussion and Scientific Principle Notes. Introduce and conduct Reading 6.2 – What is a Chemical Reaction? (pp.49-52). Share out and discuss responses to the reading prompts. Introduce Lesson 7 – Is Burning a Chemical Reaction? Brainstorm possible chemical reactions observed in everyday life. 

HOMEWORK: Read and complete the responses for Reading 5.1 (pp.41-43).

WEDNESDAY/THURSDAY: Conduct Activity 7.1 – Is Burning a Chemical Reaction? (pp.53-55). Test the properties of the substances before and after burning. Answer the Conclusion prompts on pp.54-55. Wrap up for Lesson 7 with Driving Question Notes, discussion, and Scientific Principle Notes. Conduct Reading 7.1 – Is Burning  Chemical Reaction? (pp.56-59)

HOMEWORK:

  • Finish the Conclusion responses for Activity 7.1 (pp.54-55)
  • Finish Reading 7.1 and responding to the prompts (pp.56-59)

FRIDAY: Mexicantown / DIA field trip = no Science class today

Canada/US Mapping Lab Assessment = Monday 10/22/18

MONDAY: Canada/US Mapping Lab Quiz. Introduce Chapter 3 Settlement Patterns and Ways of Life in Canada. Read Introduction and 3.1 The Geographic Setting. Complete ISN p.32.

HOMEWORK: Complete The Geographic Setting Notes (ISN p.32) if you did not finish during class.

TUESDAY: Preview map of Canada’s provinces and territories. Introduce the “Where In Canada Game”. Read and discuss 3.2 Canada’s Five Regions (GA pp.54-55). Play Round 1 of the “Where In Canada Game”. Read and discuss 3.3 (GA pp.56-57) and complete the sections for Population in the ISN (ISN pp.33-34).

HOMEWORK: Nothing.

WEDNESDAY/THURSDAY: Play Rounds 2-4 of the “Where In Canada Game”. Read and discuss 3.4 – 3.6 (GA pp.57-59) and complete the sections for Language, Climate, and Buildings in the ISN (ISN pp.33-34).
