How Can I Make New Stuff From Old Stuff? Student Edition

MONDAY: Check in and review answers to Reading 7.1. Conduct and discuss Reading 8.1 – Why is the Stature of Liberty Green? (pp.63-64). Introduce and set up our experiment for Activity 8.1 – How Can I Investigate Acid Rain in my classroom? (pp.61-62). Make predictions about what will happen to our copper squares.

HOMEWORK: Finish Reading 8.1 (pp.61-62) if you did not finish during class.

TUESDAY: Election Day – No School

HOMEWORK: Nothing.

WEDNESDAY/THURSDAY: Collect and analyze data from our experiment from Monday with Activity 8.2 (pp. 65-67). Determine if the copper underwent a chemical reaction from the acid or from the pure water. Conduct Reading 8.2 – Does Acid Rain Make New Substances? (pp.68-72).

HOMEWORK: Finish Reading 8.2 (pp.68-72) if you did not finish during class.

FRIDAY: Meadowbrook play – no Science class.

HOMEWORK: Nothing.


Social Studies

Chapter 3 Assessment = Monday 11/5/18

MONDAY: Chapter 3 Assessment. 

HOMEWORK: Nothing.

TUESDAY: Election Day – No School.

HOMEWORK: Nothing.

WEDNESDAY/THURSDAY: Introduce Lesson 4: The Great Lakes: The U.S. and Canada’s Freshwater Treasures. Read and discuss sections 1-2 of Lesson 4 (GA pp.65-69). Complete ISN pages 37-40. Introduce the State of the Great Lakes Debate that will take place next week and assign roles for the debate. IF there is time we will begin debate prep.

HOMEWORK: Finish reading 4.1-4.2 (GA pp.65-69) and completing pages 38-40 inn the ISN if you did not finish during class.

FRIDAY: Meadowbrook play – no Social Studies class.

HOMEWORK: Nothing.
